Taxi Driver Caught Pretending to Be a Driverless Car

Jan 18, 2032

In an odd turn of events, a veteran New Jersey taxi driver has been arrested this weekend after he was caught impersonating a driverless car.

In an odd turn of events, a veteran New Jersey taxi driver has been arrested this weekend after he was caught impersonating a driverless car.

Ted Greirson, 62, had been an investment banker for thirty years before setting up his dream company: a driverless classic car taxi service. Greirson's company spared no expense and stocked a range of vintage cars - all modified and made driverless. His services were a hit with customers wanting a taste of luxury and his cars would regularly be seen ferrying the rich and famous to star studded events across the state.

However, Grierson ran into trouble this week when the self driving system failed on his 1948 Packard Vintage Limousine. Booked that afternoon for a wedding, and not wanting to cancel, Grierson decided to drive the car himself. In what he's now called a 'crazy, snap decision', he decided not to tell the bride that he would be driving and instead pretended that the car was driverless by hiding behind the blacked-out driver partition.

Needless to say, the bride was shocked when she realized Grierson was driving the car; 'I knew something wasn't right, I thought I am being watched and my life is at risk!' Calling it a breach of both her safety and privacy, Grierson's apologies were not enough to satisfy the upset Bride - police were called to the wedding venue. 'Human driver is very unsafe, - it is like playing Russian roulette.' - explained plaintiff her decision to sue.

'I know I should have told her,' Grierson told reporters, 'but people these days don't like drivers and I didn't want to lose the client!'

He can expect to lose more clients after this incident.

However, loyal customers will be happy to know that his cars will be driving themselves as usual, without Grierson behind the wheel - he'll be busy trying to get his license back!
