My Car Saved My Life

A driverless car has become an unsuspecting hero after saving its driver’s life when he was viciously attacked by a mountain lion. Suffering life-threatening injuries, the car rushed the victim to the hospital as he lay unconscious on the backseat and even alerted medical staff on arrival. California Department of Fish and Wildlife officials have stated that they have now tracked and killed the mountain lion to ensure public safety.

Darren McCarthy, 32, was hiking alone in San Diego when the wildcat attacked. An avid outdoorsman, McCarthy had ridden out to the popular Los Penasquitos Canyon at dawn, hoping to avoid the crowds. However, he wasn’t the only one out early that morning - the cool and quiet trails at sunup are a mountain lion’s ideal hunting conditions.

"it came out of nowhere - I didn't see a thing till it was on my back".

The 80-pound wildcat pinned McCarthy to the road. He sustained multiple bites to his neck and shoulders, whilst the cat's claws tore gashes as long as 12 inches along his lower back and thighs - Doctors say he's lucky to be alive. He has his car to thank for that.

Parked only 100m away from the attack, the car's sensors were triggered by McCarthy's health monitor, triggering the car's alarm and spooking the mountain lion. McCarthy was able to free himself as the animal fled. He doesn't remember crawling back to his car, but the command log reports l McCarthy asking to be taken to the hospital. He lost consciousness on route and the car signaled medical staff by once again triggering its alarms on arrival to the hospital.

Staff found McCarthy in a critical state in the car, if it wasn't for the car's quick response he would not be here today.

"It's the best purchase I've ever made," he told reporters this morning, injured but smiling next to his dusty car, "I think I'll treat her to a wash!". MOTOR-CORP has announced a weekend-long SALE on all driverless vehicles in celebration.
